Many routers use the default IP address of 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.1, so try those if you’re not sure and maybe even change a digit or two if they don’t work, like 192.168.0.1 or 10.0.1.1.

Step 3: Enter Your Login Credentials

Now, log into your router using your username and password. The username and password are often “admin” or “user admin” by default, but you can check with your router’s manufacturer or Internet service provider if this doesn’t work.

  • Alternatively, the login information can sometimes be found on the bottom of the round itself.

Step 4: Change the Password 

Once you logged in, go to the “Wireless” or “Wireless Security” option. Or locate a section titled "wifi" and look for a specific field containing your password. For example, Cox customers can click on “Wireless" and find their password in one of two fields:

  • For WEP encryption, the current wireless password is located in the Key 1 field.
  • For WPA/WPA2 encryption, the current wireless password is located in the Passphrase field.

If you are a Cox customer with a Panoramic Wifi-enabled modem, you can also change your password by using the Panoramic Wifi App. Simply click in the edit field for your gateway, enter a new password, and click "Save."

Note:  if you aren’t able to understand or find yourself lost, you can contact your router’s manufacturer. If you’ve received router from Internet service providers, such as Spectrum or Xfinity, you can also contact them.

How to Change Wi-Fi Password using Cox Wi-Fi App


If you’re using Cox Wi-Fi app, then changing a Cox Wi-Fi password is easier. Learn how to change Wi-Fi passwords using the Cox Wi-Fi app.

1. Open the Cox Wi-Fi app on your preferred device. Once you’re in, at the bottom of the screen, click Connect. Doing so will take on the Network selection page.

2. Now, at the top of the screen, beneath the network name, click See Network. Notice, if you’re on the “My Network Page

3. From the “My Network Page, you need to click on the “Pencil” icon. From the Edit Wi-Fi Settings screen, click to edit the Wi-Fi Name and Wi-Fi password fields as desired.

4. Finally, click Apply Changed to save the changes.

As a result, the modified settings are saved, and your Panoramic Wifi Gateway starts broadcasting. If your device is still connected to your old WiFi network name or password, you'll have to reconnect with the new information.

To access the features on your Cox Wi-Fi app, first of all, sign in o your Cox Wi-Fi app, enter your primary user ID and password. The Cox Wi-Fi app allows you to do the following.

  • You can view the status of your internet connection and restart the gateway
  • You can troubleshoot issues for a specific device connected to your home network
  • View and change your Wi-Fi name and password.
  • It also allows you to set up your Panoramic Wi-Fi Pods
  • You can check your Wi-Fi network activity information.
  • Access additional troubleshoot information
  • You can also create user profiles for the people in your home to easily control and keep track of everyone’s device.
  • Place at one place the devices connected to your Wi-Fi network and give them nicknames.

How to Reset Cox Wi-Fi Password 

If you want to reset your Cox Wi-Fi password, follow the instructions below:

Note: Before we go ahead, to use this option to reset your password, make sure you’ve already completed the Profile registration and validated your preferred email address. 

1. Visit Cox.com on your web browser and from the Home Page, click Sign In My Account.

2. Click the Password? The link beneath the Sign In button. Doing so will take on the password reset page.


3. From the Reset my password page, enter your User ID and then click Lookup account.


4. The following options display to reset your password.

  • Text Me
  • Call Me
  • Answer Security Questions
  • Send Email

Note:

  • If a mobile number has been identified on the account, this option shows as Text me.
  • If no mobile number has been identified on the account, this option shows as Call me.

5. Choose the reset option and the same will take on the next page. For example:

6. From the Select reset option page, click the “Text me” tab. The Text me page will show you the number that has been identified on the accounts as mobile numbers. The phone numbers are partially hidden for your security.


7. You need to select the phone number on which you want to receive text messages and then click “Text this phone”. 

8. Now, on the “Very your phone” number page, enter the six-digit verification code sent to your phone number and then click Verify.


9. Once you verified, you will reach the “Changes Password” page. Enter your new desired password and then click “Save” changes.


Your Cox Wi-Fi password has been changed.

How to Manage Connected Devices on Cox

If you think you’ve recently activated your gateway or changed your Wi-Fi name or password, then verify that you’ve connected all of your wireless devices using your new Wi-Fi name and password. Remember that devices connected through a third-party Wi-Fi router or extender do not appear on your listed devices.

To manage a device connected to your WiFi network, follow the steps below.

1. Tap Connect at the bottom of the screen on the Cox Wi-Fi app.

As a result, a device list appears, with the manufacturer's default device name or the one you previously customized. Learn more about each device status icon that may appear in the table below.

If it shows the grey dot icon, the device is not currently active connected to your home network.

The device is connected to your home network

Pause Symbol


The device is currently paused and cannot access your home network

If you want to resume a device, tab the device name and then resume or Unpause device rom the device screen.

Crescent Moon Symbol


The device is currently in Bedtime Mode and cannot access your home network. 

If you need to unpause or resume the device in Bedtime Mode, at the bottom of the screen, click People, then tab the “Profile” where the device is assigned and then Wake Up.

Note: Tapping Wake Up unpauses all devices assigned to that Profile until the next scheduled bedtime.

2. From the Connect screen, you need to click on the device to view or manage. From the selected device screen, view more details or do any of the following:

3. Click on the “Pencil” icon at the top of the screen, updates the “Device Name” field, and tap Apply to personalize the device name.

4. Click “Pause” device to block internet access. View Network Activity for the device.

5. Click Assign Device to assign the device to a profile. 

6. Click Troubleshoot Devices to see Internet connectivity information and troubleshooting tips.

7. Click “Device” details to view Internet connectivity information, manufacturer, brand, operating system, MAC address, IP address, and more.
