In this article, you will learn why RescueData Recovery freezes and important tips & precautions to avoid such issues with the software.
#1. Check system compatibility
Visit the RescueData Recovery download page and ensure you are running the software on a compatible system satisfying the minimum hardware requirements.
#2. Disconnect USB Peripherals
Unplug all unnecessary USB peripherals such as printer, webcam, extra flash drives, card reader, controller, etc. as they might cause the software to freeze when it starts to save the recovered data at the destination. To ensure trouble-free data recovery, avoid using the system while the software is saving the data.
#3. Use Admin rights
Always run RescueData Recovery tool with Administrator Rights to grant full permissions. If sufficient permission is not granted, the software might freeze or stop working in between the recovery or save process.
#4. Check Connections
Ensure the hard drive or the storage media is firmly connected to the system where RescueData Recovery is installed.
#5. Check Storage Space
Ensure there’s enough storage space available on the destination drive or volume. If the size of the recovered data is more than the space available, it can cause the software to freeze or crash.
#6. Close All Running Apps
It’s a good practice to close all the running applications to avoid conflicts between the system resources and files. Also, avoid using the system while the software recovers your lost data.
#7. Perform Selective Recovery
- From the main “Select What To Recover” screen select the available list of options
- Follow the on screen recovery steps then. The software will only scan for the drive or files you had selected.
